I Liq Chuan: Basic Exercises 1-15
Pre-requisites: No previous experience is required to attend. This workshop is open to all participants! All concepts and principles will be reviewed.
Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan has 15 Basic Exercises. These are divided into two sections: Basics 1-10 and Basics 11-15. If this is your first time, no problem – in this workshop we will review Basics 1-10 and then introduce Basics 11-15. You will learn to recognize the concepts and principles that are common to all 15 Basic Exercises.
We will continue our exploration of the Five Qualities, Six Directions, and the Three Dimensions. We will take the coordinations experienced in the stationary exercises of Level 1, and practice maintaining them as we begin to step, kick and strike.
On the first day of the workshop we will begin by reviewing some key points of Basic Exercises 1-10. Next we will look at the principle of Non-Resistance through Basic Exercise # 11: Concave-Convex, and then we will look at the Basic Exercise # 12: Hip Roll, as the foundation of all of our movement.
On the second day we will review Basic Exercises 11-12, as well as introduce Basic Exercise # 13: Stepping, Basic Exercise # 14: Kicking, and Basic Exercise # 15: Throwing Hands. Throughout these exercises we will use the concepts to observe the principles in action. If this is your first I Liq Chuan workshop, you are welcome to join us! This workshop is designed as a stand-alone module and we will review the essential concepts from Basic Exercises 1-10.

Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan: 21 Form – Part 1
Pre-requisites: No previous experience is required to attend. This workshop is open to all participants! All concepts and principles will be reviewed.
Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan foundation training includes two short forms, the “21 Form” and the “Butterfly Form”. The forms were designed as vehicles through which the student may learn to see, recognize and realize the principles of Nature in action.
The 21 Form teaches you to connect your body and to move in a smooth and continuous fashion. Whereas in the 15 Basic Exercises you learned to isolate and develop the Five Qualities, in the 21 Form you learn to change gears – to practice the Five Qualities in different combinations and sequences. Also known as the “Fullness Form”, the 21 Form provides you the opportunity to recognize the Six Directions and the Three Dimensions.
In this workshop we will review the 21 Form Choreography as well as look at applications for selected movements, highlighting the principles.
This will be an ongoing series, designed to review applications for the entire sequence.

Pre-requisites: All students are welcome to attend this workshop! In order to officially grade, however, students must have attended previous workshops and/or ongoing classes, and have practiced the material for a minimum of three months to one year (depending upon the level being graded). Participants must grade each student Level in the order of 1, 2, and 3. Our grading workshops are designed for Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan schools, study groups, and distant students.
Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan’s teaching methodology is very precise as it guides students though each stage of development. The grading process is not a formality, it is part of the teaching process itself. The grading process is designed to assist you in clarifying what you need to look at for your level of development. Being certified for a particular Student Level does not mean that you have mastered the material, merely that you recognize how to do the exercise and what you should be paying attention to.
We will review and troubleshoot the exam material, correcting any errors and reinforcing what students already know. In addition to the physical elements of the exam, students will also be asked questions regarding Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan’s History, Philosophy, Concepts, and Principles.

7th Annual Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan Summer Camp in Poland, July 16-23, 2017
Join us in the beautiful Polish countryside, as we explore Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan, the art of Grandmaster Sam F.S. Chin! All levels are invited to join us, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners!
This year’s camp will be held at Dwór Zaścianek, a traditional Polish inn, nestled in the woods of eastern Poland. Dwór Zaścianek is the perfect location to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and to focus on training. Come and enjoy Polish hospitality and cuisine, and train with an amazing community of people from around the world!
The Training
During this 8-day intensive training you will explore the Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan system, through a variety of solo exercises, partner applications, and Spinning Hands. Throughout these 8 days of concentrated practice, you will deepen your understanding of yourself, as well as your relationship with the world around you. Grading will also be available for those who wish to test for their next student level.
Morning Training: The Six Directions and the Three Dimensions
Every morning you will experience a series of solo and partner exercises designed to allow you to identify your limits, to unify your mind and body so that you may move more freely, and to become conscious of the power that is inherent in the changing conditions of every movement. These exercises will aid you in recognizing the Six Directions as the foundation for the Three Dimensions in your movements.
Afternoon Training: The Point of Contact
Each afternoon you will work to recognize the Point of Contact. Beginners will be introduced to the first stage of the mindful practice of Zhong Xin Dao I Liq Chuan Spinning Hands, while more advanced students will explore material suitable to their grade level. Throughout these sessions you will experience a series of progressive training exercises that will help you to clarify the following:
- Recognizing the Point
- Understanding the Line
- Using the Cross
- Engaging the Center
- Maintaining the Three Qualities of Engagement
Every day you will explore the Process of Complementary, the Unification of Structure, the Unification of Movement, and the Unification of Partner. Beginners will work on the basic mechanics, energies, and applications, while more advanced students will further refine their structure, movement, and qualities of engagement.
Zhong Xin Dao is a path of cultivation through which you will be able to let go of reflexive habits and cultivate mindfulness through conscious action. By the end of this 8-day immersion you will clearly understand the Zhong Xin Dao Learning Process, have a complete home practice method, as well being capable of recognizing the universal principles of human movement in action!
